As counselors, we support our school community through proactive, developmentally appropriate programming in the areas of social/personal, academic, and college/career readiness. Our role is to foster an inclusive, collaborative environment where all students can become successful members of society.
Many of the ways we can help students and families include:
- Academic, social/emotional, and career/college guidance
- Crisis intervention and prevention
- Communication and collaboration with students, staff, and families about student issues
- Student placement and scheduling, including high school registration and AVID program
- Classroom guidance curriculum and presentations
- Coordination of student 504 plans
- Interpretation and coordination of MCA and EXPLORE testing
- Liaison with new and prospective families; coordination of transition to the building
- Leadership in various building initiatives
- Refer families to outside agencies as requested

I am very excited to be working with your child. I am originally from Wisconsin and graduated from the University of Wisconsin Madison with a Bachelors and Master's degree in Social Work. I have been working at Sunrise Park Middle School (Now Mariner Middle School) since 1993. I currently live in Cottage Grove with my husband Phil and my very adorable, somewhat naughty golden retriever, Molly. I also have 3 adult children who still live in the Twin Cities. I am very excited to be joining the Mariner community! I graduated from the University of Minnesota-Duluth with my Bachelor of Psychology and Bachelor of Criminology. After working, I returned to school and received my Masters in Counselor Education from Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado. I am originally from Forest Lake, MN and currently live in Elk River, MN with my husband and our cat Indie. I have been working at Mariner (Sunrise Park) as a School Social Worker since 1998. I received my Bachelor of Social Work at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, and my Masters in Social Work from the University of St. Thomas/College of St. Catherine. I live in White Bear Lake with my husband, Jake, daughters Celia and Kate, two dogs Rosie and Ellie, and cat Stu. I enjoy reading, taking long walks, and relaxing on the lake at the cabin. I have also enjoyed being one of the WEB Coordinators at Sunrise since 2006, and one of the Student Council Advisors. I am excited to get to know you, and please reach out if you need anything!
I completed my undergraduate work in psychology at the University of St. Thomas after moving to the Twin Cities from Iowa, where I grew up. After college, I followed up with a Master’s and Educational Specialist degree in School Psychology from UW River Falls. I started working for the White Bear Lake School District in 1997 and have been at Mariner (formerly Sunrise Park) since that time.
I am the proud parent of three amazing adult children (a daughter and twin sons) and have lived in the Woodbury/Cottage Grove area for more than 25 years. When not at work, I enjoy traveling, cooking and baking, reading, anything that involves being active and outside, and spending time with family and friends. Hi! I’m Ms. Schulte, the School Social Worker at Mariner Middle School. I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin–River Falls and my master’s degree from Augsburg University.
I love what I do, and feel incredibly fortunate to support students and families each day. I enjoy building meaningful relationships, helping students navigate the challenges of middle school, and creating a safe and supportive environment where every student feels heard, valued, and empowered to succeed.
Outside of school, I enjoy golfing, traveling, spending time with family and friends, and exploring new places. I’m grateful to do work I love and to be part of the Mariner community!
